I liked this book. It was interesting and the third book I was able to finish. Most books I read are boring but this had a little something to it to make it bearable. When I first looked at the title I did not know what the book was going to be about. I thought it was just going to be a boring book that I would have to read, but once I started reading it I kinda liked it and finished it. This story can compare to me kind of because I have had to move a few times away from my friends and the stuff that was familiar to me. Not for the same reasons as Bruno, but I know it is hard and takes time to get used to. Having to find new things to give you something to do is not always easy. It can be very boring and making new friends is hard when you are in a place where there are not many people. I liked how Bruno was adventurous and liked to be outside. I enjoy doing that stuff also so I think that he and I are alike in that way. In this story Bruno gets picked on by his older sibling and I know that it is not fun because I also get picked on by mine, but it is part of life. I think I am also kind of Shmuel because I like to be alone and I only have a few friends. I have a hard time talking to other people and people try talking to me but I don’t talk to them much. I am not in that same spot as him though. I have a family. I am not forced to do things all the time, but some things I have had to be forced to do. I think that when other people read this book they will enjoy it. I think the message is that friends argue and that creates a wall which is the fence between the two. The two boys were friends but they had problems, then the fence was built between them and they got farther apart. They can still communicate, but they don’t have as good of a relationship as they did before they built the wall around themselves.
